Turfware Glossary

Plain-language definitions of the terms used across Turfware — the web app, the Delivery App and the Harvesting App. Terms are listed A–Z.

A

Archiving — Hiding a customer, user or record from active lists while keeping its history. Archiving clears clutter without deleting anything; archived items can be restored later.

C

Carrier — A freight provider that moves orders from farm to customer — your own fleet or a third party. Carrier accounts and settings control how each carrier's freight is charged and mapped to your accounts.

Confirmed — An order that has been confirmed and pushed into the harvest, delivery and laying workflow. See Orders Confirmed.

Cut sheet — The day's list of turf to be cut, order by order, that the harvest team works from in the Harvesting App. "Cut Sheet" is also a quick-view dashboard in the web app.

Cutting style — How turf is cut: Rolls or Slabs, with a Slabs / SQM figure. Set as a default per turf variety.

D

Deposit invoice / final invoice — When an invoice is split, the deposit is billed up front (often when a quote is accepted) and the final invoice covers the balance on completion.

Dispatch location — Where an order's pallets are staged and sent out from. The driver's pick list groups orders by dispatch location.

Docket — A printed run or delivery sheet ("Print Docket") the team can carry.

Driver — The field user who works deliveries in the Delivery App.

F

Farm — A property where your turf is grown and harvested. Each farm holds its location and its paddocks.

Farm group — A bundle of farms and carriers under one name, with a daily cutoff time. Grouping helps you organise capacity and logistics, and filter the Planner by group.

Forecast (5 Day Forecast) — A forward look at cutting orders for the next five days, shown as a tab on the Harvesting App dashboard.

Forklift operator — The Harvesting App role that moves and dispatches cut pallets, taking an order On Loading Bay then Ready To Dispatch.

Freight — The charge for delivering an order. Freight rates and freight/account mapping control how it's priced and posted to your accounts.

G

Global Search — The quick jump-to search that finds customers, orders and more from anywhere in the web app. See Global Search.

Grass / turf variety — A type of turf, such as Empire, Winter Green or Sir Walter.

H

Harvester — The Harvesting App role that cuts the turf and marks each order Harvested.

Harvesting App — The iPad app the harvest and forklift team use to work through the day's cutting. See Using the Harvesting App.

Harvest tag — A tag the Harvesting App automatically stamps on an item when it's marked Harvested, so each cut can be traced back.

L

Lead — A prospective order or customer captured for follow-up (for example, via Add Lead in the Harvesting App).

Lock — Freezing an order so key details — customer, segment, pricing, freight, deliveries and more — can't be changed by accident. Click the lock again to unlock and edit.

Lost — An order that's been cancelled or abandoned; closed but kept for reporting. See Lost.

M

Market channel — Where a customer came from. Helps you see which marketing channels are working.

Meters Harvested / Meters RTD — Progress figures on the Harvesting App dashboard: how much turf has been cut (Harvested) and how much is ready to dispatch (RTD).

N

Notification — An automated email or SMS sent to customers or staff at points in the workflow (for example, a delivery confirmation). Managed under Notifications.

O

On Hold — An order paused and pulled out of the cut sheets and delivery runs — typically for rain or site delays — and saved to its own list to resume later. An On Hold badge shows on the order. See On Hold.

Order — A job to supply turf that moves through the workflow from creation to harvest, delivery and invoicing.

Order workflow — The stages an order passes through: Quote → Quote Accepted → (Shopify Pending) → Orders Pending → Orders Confirmed, with On Hold and Lost as side states.

P

Paddock — A block within a farm where a particular turf variety is grown and recorded.

Pallet (Wood / Steel) — How turf is stacked for transport. W is a wooden pallet and S is a steel pallet; counts show as harvested against total.

Pallet code — A short code identifying an order's pallet, shown as "Pallet #".

Pending — An order that's been created but not yet confirmed; it sits outside the operational workflow until confirmed. See Orders Pending.

Pick list — The driver's list of what to collect for a run, grouped by dispatch location.

Pickup / pickup location — A collection point where a customer or carrier picks turf up instead of having it delivered.

Planner — A quick-view dashboard for scheduling the day's work.

Q

Quote — A priced proposal you send a customer before it becomes an order. Quotes live on their own list and don't enter the operational workflow until they're accepted and converted. See Quotes.

R

Ready To Dispatch (RTD) — The final harvest status: the cut pallets are staged and ready to go out. The dashboard's Meters RTD tracks progress. Set by the forklift operator.

Route / routing — Plotting a delivery run's stops on a map, numbered in the order they should be delivered. See Delivering an order.

S

Sawfish — The payments and accounting system Turfware links to. Linking a customer to their Sawfish client keeps one clean record — and one payment history — across Turfware and your accounts.

Segment — The customer's pricing group (for example Wholesale, Retail or Trade). A customer's segment dictates the pricing they receive.

Shopify — The online-store integration. Orders placed on your Shopify store arrive as Shopify Pending, waiting to be actioned.

Site contact — The on-site person for a delivery, shown in the order details with a tap-to-dial phone number. See Delivering an order.

Slabs — A cutting style where turf is cut as slabs (as opposed to rolls), with a Slabs / SQM figure.

SQM — Square metres — the unit turf is measured, cut and priced in.

Supply rate — The rate a supplier charges for an item, set per category in the supplier's settings.

T

Truck — A delivery vehicle. Orders are assigned to trucks to build the day's runs.

Turfware — The turf-management platform this manual covers, spanning orders, customers, harvesting, delivery, logistics, reporting and payments.

V

Volume pricing — Tiered pricing where the unit price changes with the quantity ordered.
